Dickens Village - Series 20 - Department 56 - Collectibles

The Dickens' Village collection is a miniature representation of holiday time in the Victorian England celebrated by Charles Dickens. Many of the pieces are inspired by scenes and characters from Dickens' novels. Made of porcelain and finely hand painted, pieces in the intricately detailed village include quaint houses, shops, and businesses of a bygone era, as well as castles, churches, and bridges. The buildings are usually two or more stories, and smaller accessories vary from Dickens submitting his first manuscript to carolers and leisurely pipe smokers around town square market. Most of the buildings are lit from within using a single small bulb, and may require either an electrical outlet or batteries. The pieces need only light dusting for care and they arrive in packaging perfect for later storage.
